  • Rehabilitation Psychology provides individual adult therapy and assessment tailored to address a broad range of mental health concerns. These services cater to teenagers (16+), adults, and seniors, offering solutions for: PTSD, with therapy options including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy or Prolonged Exposure Therapy Pain management techniques Concussion treatment strategies Depression therapy and depression treatment Anxiety treatment Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) treatment Panic Attack treatment Solutions for sleep issues Psychological and cognitive assessments Our approach integrates depression treatment and individual therapy services, and provides personalized care for each clients unique needs.

  • You can submit questions and a description of what your treatment needs are on the main page.   • Yes, sessions can held via Jane’s secure video application, or via telephone.

  • A typical therapy session is 50 minutes long, but can be shorter if you have time restrictions.

  • A complete list of the qualifications of our therapists is available at https://www.drviveksharma.net/new-page-4.We have therapists who specialize in marital counselling, trauma therapy, gender or cultural identity issues, psychological assessment, and cognitive assessment. All of our staff have at least two or more years of experience in private practice.

  • Rehabilitation Psychology is a private practice clinic, so your information is not provided to any other healthcare providers without your written consent. All clinic files are stored online via our secure, password protected charting software. Paper files are held in a locked cabinet, inside our locked offices guarded by security cameras.

  • There is no fee for cancelling an appointment, but we do request that you provide at least a 24 hour notice before doing so.

  • We accept most extended health care insurance policies, and we will provide you with an invoice that you can submit for reimbursement if we are not able to direct bill. A full list of insurance providers that we accept can be found under the tab labelled “Fees” on our website.

  • We work with patients who are 16 years or older. We specialize in trauma, chronic pain, concussion management, couples/marital counselling, sleep issues, anxiety, depression, panic attack treatment, and cognitive and psychological assessment.

  • You can choose the frequency of your sessions based on your treatment goals and insurance coverage. Sessions can be weekly, monthly, or any other frequency you choose.

  • Generate a list of your concerns, symptoms, and any other questions you have about your treatment goals. If you have insurance coverage, please have your insurance card with you.

  • A sliding scale is available, on a case by case basis for patients.

  • The therapeutic techniques used will vary based on your diagnosis and treatment plan. Cognitive therapy, behavioural therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Exposure with Response Prevention, Eye Movement Desensitization, cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia, coping skills, mindfulness based therapies, supportive counselling are some of the most frequently used therapeutic techniques used by our team.

  • The duration of treatment will depend on your treatment goals, and may be determined by the level of insurance coverage that you have. If you are covered by your auto insurance for injuries related to a motor vehicle accident, you are covered for up to two years after your accident for whatever treatment that is needed. The Non-insured Health Benefits for First Nations and Inuit (NIHB) program allows for 20 treatments at no cost per year.

  • Yes, you can select from our list of therapists by clicking on the banner that reads “Click Here to Book an Appointment”. We have female therapists, social workers, marital counsellors, and doctoral level psychologists on our staff.

  • Our therapists are not available to respond to crises outside of office hours. If you are in acute distress, please call 911, or the Edmonton Distress Line at 780-482-HELP (4357).

  • Clients who are 16 to 18 or dependent on their caregivers will require their parents/guardians to sign a confidentiality agreement in their first session.

  • Yes, your family members can sit in on sessions and provide relevant information if you provide your consent for them to do so.

  • We have build a diverse treatment team that offers a variety of approaches and disciplines. Our treatment team can accommodate requests for a male or female therapists, English, French, Hindi, or Punjabi speakers, and LGBTQ+ concerns.

  • Waitlists for a first appointment are almost always two weeks or less, depending on the availability of the specific therapist that you wish to work with. We maintain staffing levels to ensure that waitlists are never longer than two weeks.
