Jason Wu

As a queer and biracial (Chinese/Cree) individual I remember what it was like to not be fully accepted by a community. I remember the shame that resulted from the self-criticism and self-judgment from not being able to live up to the incredibly high standards that I placed on myself in my attempts to fit into a narrative that was not authentic to myself.

If you are someone who is experiencing mental health difficulties as a result of your sexual, gender or cultural identity; or if you are now open to processing difficult experiences from the past you have come to the right place. If you choose to work with me, you will be given a safe space for your experiences to be seen and heard, which isn’t typically present in our daily lives. This will give us the opportunity to explore your issue and develop effective coping mechanisms to be able to navigate life with less stress. On top of that, we will be able to work together to process the mental health struggles that prevent you from living your best life.

Therapeutically, this is done by using a combination of acupuncture and counseling. Acupuncture is an excellent tool to help bring you back into your body and regulate your nervous system, preparing the mind to process more effectively. Counseling is used to explore and process your experiences, giving you deeper awareness about you and how you navigate the world. Together, these tools will empower you, so you don’t feel so out of control in your life.

Jason is a registered acupuncturist in good standing with the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAA) and a provisional registered psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Jason has completed over 11 years of formal education studying the mind-body dynamic and over a decade of experience working with the human condition.

When not in the clinic, Jason can be seen living his best life either playing volleyball, on the patio enjoying time with friends or vibing to the music at live shows.

Bharat Sharma

I am a Master's practitioner in Clinical Counseling with a private practice in Edmonton, Alberta. I focus on adults and families struggling with mental health issues, ranging from depression and anxiety to addiction, conflict, and relationship issues.

Many practices divide limited attention and resources across many clients; my philosophy has always been one of quality over quantity, devoting the time and attention needed to help clients achieve mental wellness. This does result in my only being able to see a limited number of clients weekly, but the trade-off in specialized attention that I can provide is tremendous.

I utilize an integrative approach to help clients discover the prototypes (or causes) in their lives, which are the roots of their unhappiness and sorrow. The sense of being alone in this situation is a common issue, which exacerbates the entire problem. With that in mind, I hold clients accountable for making necessary changes in their lives to promote better connections and relationships with family, friends, and coworkers – people who love and care about them – so that nobody has to feel alone on this journey to wellness.

I understand entirely that psychotherapy can be a daunting or at least uncomfortable prospect, and I also know that many people have some level of trepidation and skepticism going in. This is one reason I employ a very interactive approach, asking lots of questions, providing support, and challenging clients to take the initiative to grow and reach breakthroughs.

I have significant knowledge and training in conventional, complementary, and alternative medical systems, allowing me to help people from any walk of life to attain better relationships free themselves of anxiety and depression, and just overall overcome the troubles in their lives, which are costing them their mental health.
